I have thought a lot about what I wanted to focus my blog on, and I decided I wanted it to be on nail polish. My first post is going to be about my dusty hunting finds. What is dusty hunting you ask? Dusty hunting is going to nail salons and buying their polish. It is called "dusty hunting" because sometimes the polish has been there so long it literally has dust on it!
Why is this exciting? Well, you can find some really amazing gems in those dusty little bottles. Many of my most hard to find and rare polishes come from my dusty hunting trips.
Here are some tips for dusty hunting:
1. Go to any salon you can think of. Most of the time I find older, more run down or hidden away salons have the best finds but I have found amazing items at all different kinds of salons.
2. First ask if they have any polish for sale. Sometimes I have gotten away with having them still sell to me when they say no, but most of the time I walk out disappointed if I try to negotiate with them after they have said no.
3. If they show you to the area under the counter, simply ask if you can look at the colors on the wall because it is hard to see under the counter (which is true). Most will say yes.
4. Sometimes they will have the polish brand new in the back, which is awesome with rare colors. Most of the time they will not. Simply say that you are interested in that polish and don't mind buying the used one at a discounted price.
5. LOOK CAREFULLY. I cannot stress this enough. There have been times I have gone back to a salon I already went to and missed an AMAZING polish. It's best to just look as carefully as you can on the first try so that you don't need to go back.... after all... there are A LOT of salons to go to!
6. HAVE FUN! You'll be disappointed sometimes but most of the time you'll find polishes you never thought you'd find and you walk out satisfied with your purchase :)
I hope those tips help people who were nervous about going or didn't know what to do. My next post will feature some of my best finds with swatches.
Good luck to everyone with dusty hunting and comment if you find something amazing, because I love to hear your finds!
